Sputnik

Spuntnik

In the article by Friedman, brings up a lot of interesting ideas.  I found it very interesting how our counrty changed directions when the Germans developed Sputnik.  I was also interesting that our country came together to advance our science, math, and technological skills. I agree with Friedman that we need to quite worrying about overseas and take care of us first.  We are falling behind as a nation and it is now effecting everyone living here.  Our school systems are not equip to teach curriculum using new advanced technology. Furthermore, I agree with Friedman that we need to take the money that we are spending in Afghanistan and put it to use here in the states to better educate our children in Mathematics, engineering, and technology.

  1. I also agree that we need to focus on our improvements and future! The more energy we focus on others makes us farther and farther behind. What do you think we need to get us back on track? How can we get people to start thinking about our scientific and technological growth?

I think that the only way out of this mess education. Therefore as leaders we need to include STEM in our science classrooms so we can develop future scientists with the skills and knowledge to know that our growth as a country is dependent on science.
